How do i find out about my phone?

i got a cell phone and i was told i got unlimited text messages by my mom but my dad says i dnt have that bu ti think he's just bluffing. cuz he doesnt wnt me on the phone 24-7. how do i find out what my plan is for myself? so i go online or call or go to the sprint store? thanks
