Why does Palestine is a holy land for Islam?

if the Quran itself doesn't mention the Holy Land of Palestine.. according to the Quran or islamic tradition Muhammad went to Jerusalem and he reached the seventh sky but why are there many mosques about the prophets of the Bible in Palestine? if they are not mentioned in the Quran? I am not against the Holy places but the Quran mentions more the Holy Mosque of Mecca
