I need help with a paper on historical inaccuracies in the movie "Glory"!?

In the movie "Glory" the ocean is on the left side of the regiment when they charge Fort Wagner. This was allegedly done in order to get the best quality of light at the time of the filming. I need to be able to prove this. Does anyone know where I can find out why they filmed it this way?
