To a Consumer Credit Counselor, Financial Expert, or someone with this situation..?
My Mother is almost 90 years old. She has a credit card which I used for her medications, food, and other things for her, and I am an auhorized user. Since she has dementia, I have always helped her with paying it and her other expenses since she only receives $900 in social security every month. I have been unemployed for 1 year and could not help her, so the balance went way up to $33,000.00. It is current. I made all of the payments with my unemployment check. I just got a job a month ago making 90% less than I did before, it only pays the necessities. I called the credit card company and the rep said she could change the terms to $563.00 per month but could go NO LOWER on the payment, no interest, and it will be paid in 5 years. It is a very good deal, but with my income I cannot make that high of a payment. What options does my mother have, and what can I do to help her? I do have Power of Attorney that I have had for many years. My Mother has absolutely no ets or money in the bank. Thank you.
